Integration of Education for Sustainable Development to Statistics

Sustainability education (ES), Education for Sustainability (EfS), and Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) are interchangeable terms describing the practice of teaching for sustainability
.

All of us are aiming to have a sustainable living not just for now but for our future and the future of the next generation. But, can we achieve this, without harming our Mother Earth? As we see in reality, our country is over-populated and over polluted too because many just don't care. Take a glimpse below of our  population today:

With this number of people, how many waste per day  do we contribute in our environment. See the images below:

Maybe it's high time to show our love, care and concern for our environment!

Below is the video on how we can help take care our mother earth.

Statistics as a Platform in Education for Sustainable Development

Statisticshttp://wikieducator.org/Education_for_Sustainable_Developmenthttp://educationforsustainabledevelopment.com/blog/

Statistics is the study of the collection, organization, and interpretation of data.[1][2] It deals with all aspects of this, including the planning of data collection in terms of the design of surveys and experiments.[1]

With all the things happening in the universe, the different issues, problems, and calamities, Remember that Statistics has a part on it. Through statistics, we're able to know how much damage do we contribute to our environment. We are the one who causes a lot of problems and troubles to our Mother nature and we can't deny it, can we?

I guess these are happening because of own negligence to do our tasks & responsibilities for our environment/society and negligence to care with what God has given us.We throw garbage here, there and anywhere, cut trees and so many abuses we do to our Mother Earth. That's why we experienced Global Warming:

Below is the statistics on how greatly Global Warming affect us.

          New Alarming global warming statistics

According to NASA, the hottest year on record was 2005, which matched 1998. Twice in the last ten years, we've had the hottest temperatures on average ever recorded in our planet's history. That is very likely more than just a coincidence.

In fact, the past nine years have all been among the 25 warmest years on record, a streak which is unprecedented in the historical record. For that to happen, it's likely there has to be an underlying factor, and that factor seems to be global warming. Click the link above to read whole details.

With the things we did and continue doing to our environment. What do we expect to happen? Maybe guys, its time now to do our part before everything will become too late. All must take part for us to change the world for the better. And Education has a vital role in helping and developing a better society for everyone. Education is an essential tool for achieving sustainability. It's good that each one is aware of what's happening around us and do little things to help. Not only in prayers but more on actions. Learn to re-use, recycle, repair and plant more trees. CARE and ACT! Start it now guys! We can make it if we'll work hand in hand.

I. INTRODUCTION

I used to visit yahoo and facebook but it's funny to say that I'm not really familiar in creating blogs. Thanks to my beautiful teacher. She has passion and patient in teaching us.This technology gives us chance to share our thoughts, ideas and experiences to everyone.

There are many blogs. Some provide commentary or news on a particular subject; others function as more personal online diaries and a typical blog combines text, images, and links to other blogs, Web pages, and other media related to its topic. Whatever I'm into now, I'm happy and I enjoy exploring this blog just to make my work pleasant and admirable.

I. OBJECTIVES

* Records ongoing learning in Statistics and facilitates reflection and evaluation.
* Creates enthusiasm for responsible public writing and communication

My Reflection in Statistics according to Modules

Module 1     Introduction to Educational Statistics
June 10, 2011, first day of school and oh my gosh! my first subject this sem is statistics. I remember my college days that i score poorly in that subject with Sir Bulao but I know I can do better this time.  My professor is Mrs. Ava Clare Marie O. Robles,Ph. D. She introduced and discussed to us first what Statistics is all about and through her discussions on the definition, function, uses, and  its  importance , I found out and realized that Statistics is very essential and been a part of our daily lives. Would you believe? Yes, it's true,  in everything we do, Statistics is there. A concrete example is  in our home, we gathered a plastic of garbage or waste daily, just imagine how much wastes do we have per homes
Module 2     Variables: Subject Matter of Statistics and Research
Learning variables is quite interesting. I learned so much from here. I was able to differentiate and determined now what is  nominal, ordinal, interval and ratio and vise versa and   I able to see that life and things must be put in order.
Module 3     Integration of innovation in Statistics
I'm so happy that our professor introduced to us this blogging technology although at first i found it hard. A million of thanks to her for she always challenged me to learn more and explore things better especially with regards to the new innovations in technology.
Module 4     Measure of Central Location
Solving manually for the mean, median and mode from the grouped and ungrouped data are the first things I've leaned in this module. I'm so glad too that our professor taught us to compute data on excel which help our tasks easier and faster.

Module 5     Measures of Variation
This is the module where I found out difficult. My head is aching. I'm so stressed especially I'm poor in numbers. But that's not a hindrance. I try to exert more effort in reading, studying. I need to be serious with these.
Module 6     Measures of Correlation

We discussed the degree of relationship of one variable with another variable.

Module 7     The Normal Probability Distribution
From this module, I was able to learn the characteristics of the normal curve. I learned also that the median is always at the center of the plotted data.
Module 8     Sampling Theories and Hypothesis Testing
To get the correct result/s in you research study, you should start doing the right thing starting from selecting a sample.
Module 9     The T-Test, Z-Test, and Chi-Square Test
            I'm doing my Blog!
Module 10   Analysis of Variance
           Next Episode!
Module 11   Linear and Multiple Regression Analysis
            Coming SOON!
Module 12   Computer Statistical Applications
            Coming This July!
